I live in the Eastern outskirts of Koriyama city, Fukushima prefecture, 33 miles due west of the nuclear power plants.
To say the last month and a bit has been a bit of a challenge would be an understatement. More on that in another post.
For now though, here’s a radiation map of Fukushima prefecture, created by a Japanese guy whom I don’t know, but will try and find out more about later, to see if he will keep updating this – all credit goes to the person for creating this, made from published government radiation data.
One of my work colleagues found this, so credit to him too for letting me know of its existance….
You can see that more radiation has been deposited in areas to the north/north-west of the power stations. Also, after being blown further in that direction, the winds appear to have then blown it back down in a south-westerly direction. This explains why Koriyama city has largely escaped having more radioactive material deposited on it, and why the readings there are lower than Fukushima city.
